The most important source of inspiration for MeNaiset is the musical tradition of Fenno-Ugric peoples, including Ingrian, Setu, Estonian, Finnish and Karelian-Russian songs, as well as Bulgarian multi-voiced music. MeNaiset actually use authentic recordings and sheet music but instead of copying add a contemporary touch of their own. The ensemble has successfully appeared in Belgium, France, Sweden, Norway, Germany, Czech, Holland, England, Latvia, Russia and elsewhere.
