/ Four health technology companies from Tartu will be participating in the international health fair Arab Health 2023, taking place this week in Dubai. The City of Tartu is represented at the Enterprise Estonia joint exhibition stand by Icosagen AS, Bioatlas OÜ, Triumf Research OÜ, and Better Medicine.

‘This is an important step following the Expo 2020 Dubai World Expo, presenting the Tartu health care ecosystem in greater detail and creating opportunities for companies to enter into partnership transactions,’ said Roomer Tarajev, Head of the Business Development Department of the Tartu City Government. ‘Successful participation in the Dubai Expo has led to greater interest in the Middle East towards Estonian entrepreneurs, which is why it is important for Tartu to continue to support the growth in export capabilities of various sectors in the future.’

Through the cooperation of the University of Tartu, Tartu University Hospital and the Estonian Genome Project, Tartu Biotechnology Park, the startup ecosystem and Tartu City Government, Tartu has been able to create a supportive environment for the development of biotechnology and digital health products and services. ‘The knowledge-based business environment of Tartu, along with all of the advantages offered by the Estonian digital state, are of help to local companies, offering them a fertile environment in which to work successfully,’ Tarajev added.

The expansion of Tartu health technology company Triumf Health into the Persian Gulf region in 2022 began with the successful participation of Tartu in the Dubai Expo, which brought together the company’s CEO, Kadri Haljas, with a dealer, with whom a contract was signed six months later. According to Haljas, the game dealing with mental health concerns was a good fit for a region where there is a stigma regarding mental health related issues and it is hard to obtain clinical care.

Taking place from 30 January through 2 February, Arab Health 2023, the trade fair for healthcare, will be attended by more than 50,000 participants from more than 70 countries over four days.
