On 18 July 1996, the City of Tartu and the Municipality of Frederiksberg signed a protocol of cooperation.
The two are connected via the Nordic Chain.
The network includes six cities: Bærum in Norway, Frederiksberg in Denmark, Hafnarfjörður in Iceland, Hämeenlinna in Finland, Uppsala in Sweden and Tartu in Estonia.
The first time that Tartu’s representatives took part in a Nordic Chain convention was in Frederiksberg in 1991. Every two years, representatives from each city come together for this convention. Exciting events for young people, entertaining sports competitions, lovely concerts and informative seminars are held to celebrate twinning relations and cooperation.
Employees from different departments in Tartu City Government have visited Frederiksberg to learn from their experience.
