12 May / The Tartu City Government announces a competition that invites artists, architects, inventors and people with the Midas touch and brilliant ideas to come up with exciting solutions that offer innovative perspectives on coping with or combating the consequences of climate change and raising the awareness of city residents.

According to Tartu City Architect Tõnis Arjus, ‘climate change is directly connected to our everyday living environment, and such thoughts and collaborations help to draw more and more attention to challenges, but also to think about solutions. At the same time, all kinds of intriguing or humorous ideas are welcome’.

Installations, facilities or events that are located or taking place in the Tartu City space from 9 July through 20 August 2021, and are freely experienced and accessible to all, may be submitted to the Green Solutions Competition. The goal of the Green Solution is to raise the awareness of city residents regarding the goals of the Tartu Energy and Climate Action Plan.

To apply, a description of the Green Solution, the cost, a list of similar works performed to date, and visual appendices (photos, drawings, videos) – which illustrate what the proposed solution is looking to achieve – must be submitted by 10 June, at the latest.

The city of Tartu has set aside EUR 8000 for the implementation of the idea(s), the use of which will be decided upon by the competition jury based on the ideas that were submitted. The city is also offering support in implementing the Green Solution or finding cooperation partners, if the author of the green intervention does not have the skills or experience to implement his or her idea.

An idea for a Green Solution can be submitted here: www.tartu.ee/form/rohelahendused (in Estonian)
