/ This year’s ideas for Tartu’s participatory budget can be explored at the Kaarsild exhibition, where 22 proposals are displayed. Residents of Tartu can choose their favorites during the voting period from October 3 to 9, 2024.

Tartu’s Mayor, Urmas Klaas, invites all citizens to familiarize themselves with the ideas and participate in the vote in October. "Once again, we have a great range of ideas proposed by fellow residents. Through the participatory budget, residents can directly influence the city budget and shape our urban space," said the mayor.

In addition to the Kaarsild exhibition, the ideas can also be viewed online (www.tartu.ee/en/participativebudgeting) and at the City Hall information center.

The participatory budget vote will take place electronically from October 3 to 9 via the local government information system Volis and at the City Hall information center. Each Tartu resident can vote for up to three ideas, and the two most popular ones will be implemented next year.

Residents of Tartu who are registered in the city from the age of 14, as well as all young people aged 14–26 who study in a general education school, vocational school, applied higher education institution, or university in Tartu, are eligible to vote.
