Organised domestic waste transport

Introduction

Organised waste transport means that waste is collected and transported by a waste transport operator that the City of Tartu has chosen by way of a competition.

Waste transport operator have an exclusive right to transport mixed municipal waste, waste paper and cardboard (from buildings with at least five apartments) and biodegradable kitchen and canteen waste (from buildings with at least ten apartments) in their designated area.

Waste transport is obligatory for everyone under the Waste Act.

Suspension of waste transport

Suspension of organised waste transport for a particular period (if the house is temporarily unoccupied or being renovated, etc.) requires the submission of a corresponding application to the Department of City Economy of the Tartu City Government. The maximum suspension time is three years.
